As years unfold ISIS will be history and the world will evolve.
Triadic thinking moves us all past conflict
In the wake of Paris we should take hope in the reality of growing global consciousness — the realization that evil is precisely conscious and intended harm.
The next step is seeing that there is no difference between the contexts of such evil.
Conscious harm to anyone is in the same theater of harm and hurt. When we see that we see we are all to some extent harmful and therefore fallible. We all make harmful choices.
That said, we can only defeat ISIS when we look into our own eyes and remove the logs that lodge there. We are doing that as we evolve slowly but surely past the karmic mood of revenge to the triadic mood of tolerance, helpfulness, democracy and non-idolatry.
This does NOT cancel out the need for a forceful response to ISIS but it creates the right context for thinking about other forceful moves that all of us should take to reduce harm universally.
