Binary Arguments

Books KU/KOLL Twitter Bio

This is a rebuttal with all the elements of a debate’s binary nature. Since I have no portfolio other than my days on the planet and no reputation to preserve, let me suggest the problem with this piece.

If the object is to discuss whether things are getting better or not, the results of all harm are germane, not merely whatever stats you deem germane to war. The sad reality of now is that we still need some measurements before we can begin to discuss harm and its extent and whether we are getting better or not.

If one wants to win the argument on the basis of the premises here, we need only observe that we are awash in opportunities to do us all in.

The main problem that war poses is that it prevents us from marshalling the resources needed to make a genuine stab at making things better for the billions still locked in poverty. We should reduce warfare expenses by half.

Sorry that is not the topic is it?

But it is or at least it should be if we are seriously interested in doing more than winning a binary argument.
