Books are the end not the beginning
Words are the origin once set them down they die
Even the Bard is only saved by speech
or conversation of the eye
Books are the terminus the graveyard
We treasure most a living word
Even a memory may move us more
than something that’s unheard
But then my mother oh so winning
could scarcely hear a fell tree drop
I wonder what she made of Hamlet
there on her table top
