CONDUCTORS

Ah, perhaps we should all be conductors

With a good master like Carlos Kleiber

We could exercise to Strauss and Beethoven

We could freely fly and happily land

And once we had some of this down

We could then regard all we do

As a glorious rehearsal

2

For we would have the music in our heads

And anything we did could be a modelling

A piece of music formed as a foresight

Of what you choose to be produced

Hear the movement

Slow to fast

Whisper to crescendo

3

If you are worn out following an act

Brace yourself as Carlos must

Our physicality is terminal

Our ways of living flexible

Our favorite dishes edible

How about our favorite actions wonderful

No they need not be understood

4

Enjoy your eccentricity

The great conductors are not but themselves

Arrange the time to give your body rest

Arrange yourself to honor your behest

Then grasp onto your invisible baton

Then listen live or in your mind

You are an artist

Yes you are

Be it

Relish it

Embellish it

The music swells

Your players call

Rehearse them now
