How the Big Lie Carries On
1
It started with a soft barrage of lies
“When 9/11 happened I was there
“My crowd was the largest honestly
“I shoot to kill and none will mind”
And we got used to lies that made no sense
2
Then there came lies that breathed demonic power
Power to injure persons of degree
To humiliate past victims of abuse
To deny things that might in time prove true
Like child rape done on Epstein’s skeevy turf
3
A lie a day became a dismal rule
The media mainly enabling
People taking it in stride
We won things back by vote — they said relax
4
And then there came the biggest lies of all
“I won the election —the results are wrong
“I did nothing to disrupt the Capitol”
A bald-face string of lies before and after January 6
From the mouth of someone twice impeached
Whose Biggest Lies keep flowing on and on
5
The forces of Justice so far silent
Except a lonely Winning President
And a handful of Congress folk
So truth and justice lay on life support
And he runs free when he should be in jail
He plots and plots — the media play on
His impunity is our sad lot
6
Those of an age have been there
Know the holocaust
And now the hosts of our pandemic dead
Dictatorship US style
7
Racism practiced by the Reich
Our far-reaching brands of racial hatred
Two nations brought down by
Two leaders ideally fit for
Crimes unspeakable
8
The situations differ certainly
Theirs permitted by resentment
Ours is permitted by our lassitude
9
We have not seen the worst of it
Theirs took a global war to stanch
Each day I watch the sane nation believing
The doom they tempt will never come to pass
It comes to pass each day voices are silent
And as I write the silence lasts and lasts
