I went to Alford Brook one day
the water flowing gently
The dam we built was washed away
the winter evidently
Childhood in a bloody tongue
laid on a frozen hammer
Buried crimes remain unsung
without a single stammer
A holler from the street below
suggests ancient despair
It seems that we will have no snow
or need to go back there
