Inner Curmudgeon on The Loose

The worst defect of the New Age and related enterprises is its attitude toward the ego. Generally the recipe is get rid of it and all will be well. People have been doing that since Ken Wilber graduated from pabulum and Da Love Ananda went to Fiji. The result has been a form of philanthropic caring that is largely self-serving and in which we all participate because it is pretty close to the zeitgeist. The problem in moving beyond it is there is no money in it. All it takes is a change inside folk which they (we) can all do in a trice. When the operation is done ego is back, pride is back, and we realize we all have to move not beyond money but beyond lying to ourselves about who we actually are. Leaders have no place anymore. Dylan was correct. Follow your star and do not believe what you were told. That is what has brought the most precious rights to fruition since the beginning of time. The rest is excuses and window dressing.
