No Savior He — From Adventures of the Child Jesus

Previously

Jesus tossed and turned. Abba’s words about people looking for a savior were true. Jesus rarely passed the synagogue where men talked back and forth, without hearing of a messiah, a great man, someone who would restore former glory.

As far as Jesus was concerned, whatever glory existed was modest compared to what he found rising in his breast. Looking for a savior was just a step removed from what he was beginning to despise: the wholesale devaluing of people, the denial of goodness, negative talk, complaining.

Jesus hated gossip. He tuned out disparaging talk. He refused to rate other children. He walked away from scorn. He was offended by cruelty.
