NONVIOLENCE UNDERSTOOD
Nonviolence is unconditional love for all
That means we do nothing
Nothing at all
To dissuade an enemy
Or persuade an uncommitted Soul
It means we simply show what our world is like
(A place of peace that seeks no domination
And recognizes the free choice of all)
2
I do not think any suggestion of opposition practiced
by those with peaceful premises
Peace should not be forced, compelled, or even advocated
If its intent is to push others back
We win nonviolence for us alone
We advocate it for ourselves
We may believe it good for all
But to profess that just intrudes
Win by not insisting
We win by loving us and living our own ways
By the contagion of not fighting
By not pushing
Or shoving
Or blocking
Or otherwise seeking or even caring about what others think
3
Jesus is a nonviolent exemplar
He never said a mumbling word
We have all failed
Whenever we
Presumed ‘cause we were right
Others must be too
Each Soul is autonomous
Each soul decides for each Soul’s beloved self
4
Souls who seek a revolution
Simply walk out together in silence
Provoking nothing
Resisting nothing
Just exercising rights accorded all
The world will know
And be impressed by your nonviolence
To the extent you
Make no demands
Simply existing
With those who share
Your way
