Back is often best

Oh you step out as if earth was your realm

and anything you did would be just right

There you are a captain at the helm

until you see results and quail in fright

Thought is often blest

You recognize that what you did at first

Imperfect, comfortable, and fallible

was better than what just turned out as worst

Conclusion, stepping-back is wonderful

+

Backtrack now confessed

Life would not be right without confession

Why even write if not to confess wrong

How else relinquish your possession

of something that might be worth passing on
