Ain’t it the truth?

The Coming Era of Financial Sufficiency

We have a problem. We invest massive amounts in efforts simply to create incomes. We are nearing a point at which everyone can have a minimal bank account or whatever we call our money eventually.

We are reaching a point where the patriotism involved in being a good and debt-ridden consumer will be ended by a universal understanding that we can only replenish income by spending it in any way we choose. Clearly, I am dreaming, right? But unless we get this thinking done we are heading for the abyss.

Instead of talking about basic income we should talk about sufficiency — having enough to not need to waste time needlessly in a massive charade that disfigures us all. Want an example?

A person has a near-death experience and writes a book about it and immediately the following happens over the years. The person makes money and therefore can be said to have profited by their experience. Immediately the person is skewered by investigative reporting that says the entire experience never really occurred. This is the binary way of our present economic reality. It sucks.

If there were sufficiency and an economy based on everyone’s use of the talents (Jesus’ term for money), we would make everyone an entrepreneur. If you can’t make that leap, don’t worry. You are no different than most. But the fact is that our present economy is silly and unjust and discriminatory and dependent on the sale of lethal things like cars and oil.

Bailout the world, not the banks. Give everyone an account. Replenish it according to performance. Save us from a binary economy that is based on conflict and false philosophy.
