THE EGO
The ego is our inner whipping boy
And sadly that confuses everything
If something’s evil, it must be ego
Such is the superficial song we sing
If we extracted ego from ourselves
We’d sacrifice what freedom we possess
We’d turn to voices other than our own
And look for creeds and beliefs to confess
Our inner choices rise from heart and mind
The only enemy that’s real is fear
Our ego gives us balance in the fray
Enabling us to tread a way that’s clear
Our loss of love of self is tragedy
Our ego weakens and we go off course
Seek guidance. Ask. In time, all will be well
To love oneself is to be One with Source
