THE END OF MATERIALISM

It began when some notable celebrities

Consigned their possessions to the flames

There was a perfect storm of product mishaps

Poisonings, strange deaths, and mass unease

It continued with some New York Times hand-wringing

Then came our brand new inclusive President

Reminding some of Jimmy Carter

Without the cynical response we gave him then

+

A united government enacted a host of new policies

No one ever thought they could or would

Now people are the first order of business

And we’re creating new communities

+

Democracy’s now seen as for all souls on earth

Shopping is more retail services

Education’s becoming lifetime optional

Wellness is the basis of all worth

+

Understanding is no longer in the back seat

With all the other values we ignored

We’re creating a brand new justice system

There’s only one thing we won’t repeat

+

We won’t repeat our Darwin-drenched bad logic

Our evolution will proceed progressively

We’ll value good and love without a sneer

And Heaven will not be so theologic

+

We will have learned material’s in earth transit

Like our bodies, serving while we’re there

Heaven needs no power but mind

No wonder our education establishment is closed for repairs

I will not belabor this discussion

It’s hard to swallow in one gulp

Suffice to say it’s happening as we speak
