The flags are crying

The flags in front of Macy’s droop

as if in tears

They are

They cry

For this is the day

Trump became

a dictator

and lost all pretense

The cowards are the ones

who will not see and hear

and understand

first lie

then test

the waters with

their cruel edicts

to see who dares protest

And then

when battle must be fought

wage war

+

Trump

pardoned one

whose crime

was to besmirch

the nation’s

Constitution

in ways that Trump

also besmirches

and consigns to flames

Today the climax has

already happened

+

Now to the denouement

Trump will try

now to fire Mueller

and to cow the

cowards who could send

him packing with a word

If he succeeds

you’ll wish you had shed tears

when tears were possible
