We’re Still a Game

OK we’ve been through this

1000 times at least I in my mind

If you have not then let it lie

among the lies you told

I do not feel self-pity why should I

It is not personal and I’ll be as I like

Pride has no purchase when it comes to you

We’re still a game and if we meet up

nothing will have changed

I would no doubt take you to be the soul of love

incapable of hurting flies like me

I am not sure you even think like that

No surely not

You’re too much in the now

for crass remorse

And you are lost to me so far away

Perhaps you are a minnow

in a pool where my feet play

on days when I have nothing left to do

I lie of course but that’s

part of the the game

and you are still the teacher

more’s the shame
