WHERE ARE THE SIGNS

Where are the signs that tell us what is true

They are whatever registers with you

If some say we can see no signs

The answer may be there are many kinds

Some signs are simply thoughts that come and go

Others say things we may not want to know

Then there are coins, familiar melodies

And missives from our intimates that please

Some signs may never seem to come at all

There may be many reasons large and small

The best that we can do is persevere

And see our heart intents are crisp and clear

We are all semiotic amateurs

Awaiting languages that need no words
