Appreciation, gratitude and big props to Annie for crushing the name game!
First, she doubled down and deciphered her first name.
Then she brilliantly decoded the letters of her last name.

WHO are you?

Autistic Nonconformist Nincompoop Inherently Eager To Relate Every Venture And Somehow Keep It Silly!
Note: Brownie points for brilliantly decoding her first and last name to create one cohesive introductory statement.

WHAT genre(s) do you focus on?

I have no niche and my articles are arranged in 12 lists. TWELVE, but most of my posts fall into Humour, Autism or Poetry.

WHEN did you start writing?

I have always loved writing and even had a short stint as a reporter for a newspaper in the early 1980s. I have wanted to write since I finished there but did not feel I had anything worth sharing until I was diagnosed as autistic at the age of 60. I finally felt I had something worth sharing that might offer valuable insights to others coming to terms with a late diagnosis. I initially began writing to heal myself, but soon started to find a humorous voice.

WHERE are you located in the real world?

South-East, England. I have lived in London most of my life but am just in the process of moving to a flat with sea views in Worthing after 6 years in Cornwall.

HOW do you write?

Explain the motivation/inspiration that makes the words come.
The poetry is always written when I have some emotion inside me that I cannot unlock in any other way. It usually comes as I am falling asleep. The motivation and inspiration for everything else can come from anywhere and everywhere: other things I have read on Medium, old memories, looking through old photographs and emails or just from everyday life.

WHY did you first choose to write on Medium?

I came across Medium by accident and joined as a reader. But then I did The Artist’s Way in 2021 and at the start of this year, I set myself two challenges: to publish one thing online somewhere and publish one thing that would earn some money (even if only 10 cents). Medium was the obvious choice and I fell in love with the simple formatting and ease of navigating the site. I continue to write on Medium because it brings me more pleasure than anything else: I LOVE Medium. I came to practise writing, and perhaps get feedback on how to improve.

Follow up question. Why do you continue to write on the platform?
I am staying because I have made so many wonderful connections and friends and I am earning a decent monthly amount, enough to keep me in books and coffee. It’s the small things that make all the difference. I would still be here even if they cut all earnings.
