Being trans is not a choice — why would anyone choose to live an experience where they must remain constantly vigilant to assess if it is safe to be themselves?

As a non-binary trans-masc person, revealing my gender is sometimes necessary, and sometimes a choice, but it’s never without consideration and intense awareness.

Embracing our deepest truth is a choice, just as deciding to deny our truth and follow the expectations set out for us, is a choice.

I choose to live in happiness. Yes, that is a choice. I’m proud to make that choice. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it.
