Declaring the Moskva shipwreck as ‘underwater cultural heritage’ shows that Ukraine’s ingenuity knows no bounds.
During the two months of armed resistance against the Russian invaders, the Ukrainian resistance has never ceased to amaze me. But by now is also their ingenuity, marketing skills, and overall emotional and strategic intelligence that has to be praised.
“Any evidence of human activity on the seabed that is part of our state’s economic activities is considered national property under the UNESCO Convention,” stated the Ukrainian defence ministry.
He was referring to the Moskva wreckage that lies at the bottom of the Black Sea as the ultimate symbol of how overconfidence, foolish strategy, flawed ship design, and a lack of 360-degree defense capabilities condemned the flagship to become nothing more than an undersea monument to poor judgment in the face of superior ingenuity.
