During an existential crisis, we question whether our lives have meaning, purpose, or value:
77% of Americans — 82% of Baby Boomers, 76% of Generation X, and 75% of Millennials — say the nation is having an Existential Crisis.
The OnePoll survey of 2,000 Americans found:
- 65% — nearly two-thirds — saying they had their own personal crisis at some point in 2020.
- A greater 68% of Americans said the year has left them feeling defeated.
- 63% felt defeated entering 2021 due to the pandemic, 45% felt defeated by lockdowns, an equal number cited the presidential election and 35 percent said the spread of misinformation exhausted them.
- Another 30% blamed the 24/7 news cycle.
