Have you ever seen a Northern Cardinal eat at night?
When is the appropriate time, for a respectable bird to roost? 6pm, 7pm, just after dusk? I asked a stylish Cardinal as he stumbled toward a wooden bird feeder, freshly filled, brimming with gold and browns.
He ignored me, just looked around, as if he were ill at ease at an ambush. The absence of other winged, feathered folk cast an eerie mood about the normally cheerful, welcoming place.
