On May 23, I wrote an article explaining how the terminology “Monkeypox” was based on a misconception and bigotry:

“The scientific criteria, at the time, weren’t as strict regarding xenophobic labeling or stigmatizing people affected by the disease. Hence the name “monkeypox” or “ortopoxvirosis simia” became a universal scientific nomenclature.”
