I started very slow on Medium this month. The craziness in Washington, DC, has distracted me. I am guessing here but I think that the way this new Medium system works, I need to write daily to attract reading time. Medium’s set-up of a fake relationship with my followers requires that I write something every day to be presented to my followers as a read option. If I write enough new stories, I might get my own section on my followers’ opening page. Old stories seem to get wiped off the reader’s page quickly, replaced by more prolific and popular writers and publications. Daily, my goal is to have my name (or my publication) in the little circle, so my stuff gets read. It can be exhausting. But starting today, I’m back — on track — one short-form and long-form daily. Let’s go.
