I subscribed to Master Class, and I’m not sure I should have. I’m two-thirds through my first class: screenwriting with Aaron Sorkin. It’s a great class but discouraging.

Mr. Sorkin is about my age. We began screenwriting at roughly the same time. His body of work is impressive: A Few Good Men, The West Wing, and The American President, to name a few. In the meantime, I amassed a few good efforts, got a bit of attention, and then I quit.

Although my talent doesn’t approach Sorkin’s, taking his class makes me painfully aware of all the time I’ve wasted not doing what I love. It also shows me that time may have run out.

Maybe I can learn to make a better omelet.
