I’ve finally made contact with a family member.
Four phone calls yesterday — two wrong numbers, two messages left that I didn’t anticipate that anyone would receive.
Except someone did, and now I finally have a connection to the family. The question now: What next? It is wearisome saying “I don’t know what to say” over and over again, but I don’t.
I mean, turn it around: Someone contacts you about a sibling who died two decades ago, and it turns out to be her long-lost son. What do you expect him to say?
