The latest mass shooting at a grocery store in Colorado really bothered me. Not just for the obvious reasons, of course, but something visceral I couldn’t quite place. I was still trying to figure it out when I found this article by Kate Leaf. This wasn’t just a King Soopers, it was her King Soopers. The place where she had spent her life shopping, where she knew every aisle, and every driveway. From being a kid shopping with her parents, to going as a teen just to go, to now as an adult.
I realized that what was bothering me was that everything was so relatable. Her experience(s) mirrored my own.
