What if we thought about face masks the same way we do about condoms? Condoms are something we place on our bodies. We don’t really want to wear them, but we use them to protect ourselves and others.

Most would prefer not to use a condom. But condoms, reduce the risk of spreading fluid transmitted diseases. HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis are diseases passed from one person to another by bodily fluids.

We make a small, personal sacrifice, but society benefits from our decision.

Wearing a condom is not political. It’s a practical step to reduce the risk of disease transmission.

No one is yelling at their neighbors about individual liberty or personal freedom. People place condoms on top of their bodies to protect themselves and others.

Sometimes, we must do things we do not want to do to stay safe and help others. Mask up.
