Every now and again, life and liveliness catch up to us. After the age of twenty-five, it’s inevitable that you may wake up a bit hungover if you participate in any alcoholic beverage activities. Whether it was gin, wine, tequila, vodka, whisky or rum… we have a step in the right direction, below just for you. Check out our five best hangover foods that will help heal your body, cleanse your liver, and aid in your speedy recovery.

WATERMELON CLEANSER. Watermelon, Honey and Spinach Salad. This is a salad you can make even if you’re still tipsy! Simply combine fresh cut watermelon, spinach slightly massaged in olive oil, and combine the two. Toss until blended well, plate out your portions, and drizzle fresh honey on top. In multiple medical journals it has been reported that honey increased the rate of alcohol elimination by up to thirty-three percent, in addition to the honey, spinach is rich in folate. Folate is a nutrient that may be diminished due to heavy drinking, no matter what your age or lifestyle. Another option is throwing all of this, minus the olive oil, into a blender or juicer with 4oz of water, and drink as you feel able.

SALMON AND ASPARAGUS. Fish and veggies can usually cure the worst of the hangovers. If you feel up to getting this hearty meal into your stomach, your body will instantly feel different. Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that are excellent at decreasing inflammation in your body. Combine that with the amino acids and minerals in asparagus that extract and soothe hangovers and protect liver cells against the toxins in alcohol, and you have the almost perfect hangover dinner.

FRUIT SALAD.A simple fruit salad with oranges, fresh ginger and blueberries is such a delightful treat on a woozy stomach. While normally, eating anything acidic while you don’t feel well would be a no-go, by pairing the simplicity of a few sliced oranges, a handful of frozen blueberries, and fresh grated ginger, you can be on your way to eating a burger for lunch in no-time! The reasoning behind eating blueberries after having too much to drink is because it may help fight stomach and liver related inflammation. The anti-nausea effects of ginger make it a possible treatment for the stomach upset associated with hangovers. Also remember, you can throw this in a blender with some water or juice as well, and settle the fussiest of tummies.

PANCAKE. Blueberry and banana pancakes are quick and easy way to recover. Blueberries are high in antioxidants, while bananas are high in potassium. Both of these ingredients will instantly soothe you, and help you to feel a bit better. Mix that with the fluffy goodness of banana pancake batter and a quick dash of our Speculoos Cookie Spice Blend and voila! You have an instant blueberry banana cookie breakfast pancake! This is perfect for the person who needs something filling in their stomach, but also wants to keep it light and sweet.

HANGOVER QUESADILLA. Nothing can top breakfast quesadillas made with eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon, and red bell peppers, and using our Mexican Spice Blend from Everything Spiced are a go-to after a night or day of drinking. We also sometimes throw in our omelet spice blend, for an extra dash of flavor within.
