Ginger

Growing in popularity since the Moscow Mule, ginger in cocktails has been on the rise. It’s delicious and spicy and healthy as well. A lot of recipes will call for ginger beer, or ginger ale which is easy to get at a store. But you can also make your own ginger syrup. Mint

Mint is by far the most used herb in cocktails. The most notable cocktails that use mint are the mojito and mint julep, but it’s cool and refreshing flavor is a great addition to countless recipes. For most recipes, mint is muddled with one of the drink’s mixers, such as a fruit or a syrup. A great way to get some more flavor out of the mint is to rub it in the palm of your hands or with your fingertips to get some of those aromatic oils out. Basil

I started using Basil a lot when I began making my own pesto. Like mint, it is often muddled in drinks first with a syrup or fruit mix. I also love making a candied basil as a garnish to some ginger tea I make. A perfect treat for the summer is a basil and grapefruit cocktail. Cardamom

What a great recipe from Design Sponge — Cardamom Rose Cocktail. Although not often found in cocktails, it is no stranger to drinks. It has an aroma and taste that is both sweet and pungent, making it almost bittersweet.
