How to earn Respect? Make enemies.

Friends are overrated. Learn to use your enemies.

Being nice is good.

Being kind is good.

Letting people know you disagree with them, politely, is good. But, doing what needs to be done is always a priority.

We meet a new person, be it on a date, same classroom, colleague, or even during an evening walk. If we like them, we pursue even further. We give hints or we ask directly. We make our move.

What if we don’t like them? What if they are annoying or short-tempered? What if we want to get rid of them?

It doesn’t even have to be a random stranger we just met on a tinder date. Sometimes, we have such people among us. Our family, our relatives.

What do we do in such cases?

Let me tell you what do we do in such, or all cases.

First of all,

it doesn’t matter if you know them or not. It doesn’t matter if they are family or friends or a colleague.

If you don’t like them or maybe you are neutral towards them but you just don’t like talking to them, then tell them. You think they are nice and sweet but it’s just that you are not compatible with them.

Just tell them.

As I said in the beginning, it is good to be nice and kind. So, be it. Let them know in a sweet and kind way.

You don’t have to be rude or outspoken. Sometimes, you may, in case they are not backing off. But, most of the times a simple straight confrontation will work.

Talk to them because you want to, not because you think they will feel bad if you don’t. They are not your charity and if they are, leave them or be genuine.

Now, you might ask, why to even bother? Why to create a new enemy for myself?

Here is why.

Because you need to make a choice. Your peace of mind or your pretentious smile?

At the end of the day, you have to know that your time is limited. Who you say yes to takes away the time you could have otherwise spent as you wished. As they say, every no is a yes to the things that actually matter to you.

The point is simple. Be straight and genuine.

Plus, your success depends on the number of enemies you have. So, go on. Make enemies. It shows you are bold and you stand up for yourself. You are not a kiss-ass. You don’t pretend. You don’t try to make everyone happy. You love yourself. You are your own priority. You care about your well-being. You know your choices.

And it’s only fair to them and you. They will respect you more for your honesty and you will be less anxious to care.

Remember, you don’t need them to like you. You don’t even need them to respect you but respect is hard to come by. Respect is earned. You can make anyone like you but respect has to come from heart.

I would choose respect over temporary likeness.

Choose yours.

Be honest. Be bold. Be you.

Thank you for reading. :)
