“When am I ever going to use this in real life?”

Never. I will never need to know how to use elementary row operations to find the identity inverse of a matrix. I will never need to know how to tell my principal about my second cousin’s dog in French. I will never need to know the difference between the Kreb’s Cycle and lactic acid fermentation.

I want to know how to be a good person. I want to know how to make a difference in the world. I want to know how to change my own tire and create a budget and balance a checkbook and do my taxes. Is that really too much to ask for?
