Standardized Testing

There are so many different types of students in this world. There are the naturally gifted students, like myself. We barely have to try in school to excel. There’s the students that work their *butts* off to succeed. There are students that need to hear things, and student’s that need to see it. There’s students that don’t care, whatsoever, about school and don’t understand how much of a blessing education is. There’s students that try and try, but just simply aren’t going to ever reach the level some of their peers can. There’s students that are musically or artistically gifted, but will never be graded over that.

With such a wide variety, you would think there would be other ways to test students on how “smart” they are than one standardized test per year. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Students are told what percentile they are based on questions regarding math, science, and language arts. Honestly, how is that supposed to solidly indicate anything? Of course, learning and remembering material is extremely important. However, there has to be a better way than one giant test every year starting in third grade.
