Sometimes you just get so angry you have to do something, even if it was on a ridiculously small level as this one. So on the one hand, standing in front of the Federal Building in downtown Portland, OR. today to protest the ICE deportations, may look like the world’s loneliest protest (my wife was right beside me there but hopped out to take this photo), but on the other we got dozens of thumbs up from drivers, lots of thank yous from passersby; one took our picture, one wanted to know if anyone ever told me that I looked like Bernie Sanders and only one gave us the finger.

Many people slowed to read our signs. As they drove off, surely they thought about why we were there. If only for that, we accomplished what we set out to do.
