One could be excused for assuming that the recently anointed National Day of Patriotic Devotion was in fact a proxy designation for the date in North Korea on which Kim Jong-un’s birthday resides. One could even imagine the early 1950’s Soviet Union celebrating Joseph Stalin’s birthday with carefully choreographed proceedings on the National Day of Patriotic Devotion. Surprisingly it actually marks Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration. Luckily for us it was retrospective, we all missed it!
