Vocal Minority
Our February Focus: Refugees
Now it’s our turn. Vocal Minority is looking for organizations committed to supporting the refugees who will help write the next chapter of America. Refugees like Yassin “Falafel” Terou, who sells residents of Knoxville, Tennessee the best falafel in town. Refugees like Joel Ruiz, who restores auctioned cars and sells them at J.J. Family Auto Sales in Louisville, Kentucky. Refugees like Sam Yingichay, who attends college in Grand Haven, Michigan and wants to become a nurse.
We believe our nation is stronger when we support refugees. They’ve endured years of pain and extreme vetting to live the American dream. They work hard, they start companies, they create jobs, they strengthen communities, and they make America, well, great.
To nominate a nonprofit, email nominations@vocalminority.us or join the conversation on Facebook. We’ll announce selection based on our selection criteria on Wednesday, February 8.
Members: If you are a refugee, or know a refugee, or our descended from a refugee, share the story on our Vocal Minority Members Facebook Group. We’ll post our favorites on the Facebook page.

Spend 5 minutes, make 5 calls.
Calling is the most effective way to influence your representative. Read more about why calling works.
5 Calls: provides phone numbers and scripts so calling is quick and easy. Uses your location to find your local representatives so your calls have more impact

Daily Action
RESISTING EXTREMISM IN AMERICA, ONE PHONE CALL AT A TIME.
The majority of our country believes in decency, in moderation, in sanity. Let’s not let the powers that be forget it. If we all band together against extremism and spend a few minutes a day using tools that have been proven to work, we can make a big difference in defending those values we share as Americans.
Phoning our legislators, as New York Times recently reported*, is an extremely effective way to make our voices heard. That’s where the Daily Action alerts come in. We follow the news cycles closely to determine where we can collectively make the greatest impact. The point of Daily Action alerts is to make civic engagement easy and logistically painless.
