Step by step: Using the Evmos Domains IPFS gateway
We’re excited to announce that we’ve officially launched our IFPS gateway for private and decentralized web hosting with Evmos Domains! This guide will walk you through linking [yourdomain].evmos to an IPFS hosted site so you can see it live at https://[yourdomain].evmos.link in any browser!
First, you need a .evmos domain name. Don’t have one yet? Use this step by step guide on minting your domain name here!
What is IPFS?
The Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS) is a distributed peer-to-peer (P2P) system for storing and accessing files, websites, applications, and data.
This means users can store any files online and a unique hash to identify & retrieve those files. Once a file or directory is hashed and pinned, any IPFS node can retrieve it!
Linking Evmos to IPFS
We’ll be using an example site here, but you want to host your own static website, you can view a separate guide on adding that to IPFS here!
Using the evmos.link gateway, you can link your .evmos domains to any IPFS content hash you want. The most popular use case for this is web hosting. To demonstrate this, we’ll be using a sample site that we’ve hosted on IPFS:

In the Evmos Domains app, log in, and navigate to your domain name. Click the details button, then click Add/Edit records to make your records editable.
Scroll down to the “Content Hash” input, and enter:
ipfs://QmVeiU7XPiHLePhtsbRWTGewayzMvrHBrUrni2q1mhbqhv
Then scroll down and click Confirm to save it. Once the transaction confirms, you can head over to https://[yourdomain].evmos.link in any browser, and see the site live under your domain!
Even though this was a simple example, entire Dapp frontends can be (and often are) hosted the exact same way.
