Skip Launches Ecosystem-Aligned MEV Solution on Evmos
One small step for MEV, one giant leap for the Evmos Community. With ongoing incentives for liquidity providers and the developer revenue module in motion, there isn’t a more perfect time for Skip to deploy their MEV-capturing module on Evmos.
Evmos is rapidly expanding upon what the EVM can do, so when it comes to internalizing MEV to benefit the community and the protocol — sign us up! For those who haven’t gotten to know Skip yet, here’s a quick rundown:
- When blocks are created on Evmos there are a number of ways for opportunists to make a profit (Maximum Extractable Value, ie. MEV) by inserting transactions based on the other transactions that are being queued up for inclusion in the blockchain.
- The folks at Skip are experts at capturing MEV, but rather than do it for personal gain, they’ve built a solution to divert those revenues back to protocol communities like Evmos’.
- Validators opt into using Skip and each gets to decide what to do with the MEV they receive
Already we’re seeing Evmos validators like WhisperNode and Imperator returning 99% of recaptured MEV to network stakers, but this is far from the only possibility. Validators can send those revenues to the community pool, for instance (coming soon). Given how active the Evmos community has been in stewarding the community pool, especially for driving development through hackathons, we think this could be very fruitful. Adding an additional sustainable revenue stream to fund the community pool would mean even more public goods funding possibilities are unlocked.
And there’s even more innovative ways that Evmos can take advantage of its MEV. Having pioneered Developer Income based on transaction fee splits, we think there’s an exciting opportunity to send MEV revenue to developers as well. This could be done proportional to the existing Developer Income or based on some other criteria.
