Do you love to sing along with the radio? Do you get melodies stuck in your head? Let’s face it, humans love to sing.

We sing to babies, we sing on long car journeys, we hum or sing when we are happy.

People who sing in choirs have many health benefits. Harmonizing with others produces oxytocin, the love chemical. The harmony extends to deeper friendships and empathy.

Singing in a choir does this for you;

  • Reduces stress
  • Improves breathing
  • Improves posture
  • Reduces lung problems
  • Triggers your immune system
  • Reduces snoring
  • Gives a sense of belonging
  • Helps with grief
  • Helps with speech problems
  • Reduces the symptoms of Alzheimer's

So, really, what’s not to like? No one has to be a great singer. A friend of mine is in a choir. They recently sang outside a shopping mall to entertain shoppers.

If you have moved to a new area, joining a choir is a great way to make new friends. The connectivity is greater than any other activity.
