Reading Challenge 2022
Reading challenges are not your average new year resolution list that you will carry out for a week in January and cease to have any memory of it afterwards. (Sorry not sorry.)
Well, as writers, we know better than giving up on a reading goal, don’t we?
Without further ado, here’s the reading challenge I’m looking forward to achieve in 2022.
- A classic
- A Booker Prize winner
- A translation from South East Asia
- A book you got as a gift
- A book by a queer author
- A feminist work
- A graphic novel
- A retelling of a classic
- A book by a female author
- A book on mental health
- A collection of poetry
- A gothic novel
- A crime fiction
- A travelogue
- A memoir
- A book adapted into a movie/TV show
- A controversial work
- A fantasy
- A book from my own country
- A historical fiction
- A book recommended by a character in a movie/TV show
- A childhood favorite
22 books for 2022 — I intend to finish this list and hopefully add more.
What about you? Do you already have a challenge list? If you don’t, please make one. The new year can be a happy one or a real mess (which I pray it’s not!), but in the end, we can be proud of what we accomplished in the world of books. In my personal opinion, it’s a big deal.
2021 was a meh year for me, but I am 15-books wiser and it feels nice.
There are 20 days to plan your challenge. Choose the list carefully, taking into account your interests and preferences. But most importantly, also try venturing outside your comfort zone to learn new ideas and different styles of writings. As writers, we gotta broaden our horizons, eh?
Set sail, love!
