The weekend is the ultimate time to relax but here’s the really good news: In any given year, you’ve got just over 50 chances to get it right. Which is why you might make the case for a great weekend getaway. Research shows that taking several short vacations might actually make you happier than saving up for one big one. Why? Some psychologists have pointed to the existence of something called Peak-end Rule: As time passes, we tend to remember one big thing from any given experience. More vacations equals more experiences to remember. And you know the excitement and rush of anticipation that comes before you actually go? It’s not just you. There’s even a study says making plans for your trip can bring you pleasure.

With that in mind, we went to Instagram for inspiration on what a perfect weekend getaway could be and here are a few ideas that are giving us major feels. Time to set a weekend getaway goal and start dreaming today.

1. A day at the beach

Let’s be real: The reason you stay in the city is to eat food like this. Nothing says THE weekend like brunch. Truthfully, any excuse to have brunch is a good one.

9. Check out a local café

Take advantage of the sunshine while you can, and check out a restaurant or café that you haven’t been to before. You might just discover a new favourite!
