TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin 2017: How It Was
TechCrunch Disrupt is the world’s leading authority in debuting revolutionary startups, introducing game-changing technologies and discussing what’s top of mind for the tech industry’s key innovators. Disrupt gathers the best and brightest entrepreneurs, investors, hackers, and tech fans for on-stage interviews, the Startup Battlefield competition, a 24-hour Hackathon, Startup Alley, Hardware Alley, and After Parties.
The recent TechCrunch Disrupt took place in Berlin, Germany and lasted for 2 days, from December 4 to December 5 of 2017, having presented such sections as:
- StartUp Battlefield, which is the very heart of TechCrunch Disrupt
- Thought Leadership, where the most important topics facing today’s tech landscape were overviewed
- StartUp Alley, where early stage companies talent and technology could be seen
- Hackaton, where Development Teams were challenged to create a product within 24-hours
Disrupt hosts hundreds of accredited reporters, bloggers and correspondents from around the world, including Bloomberg, CNBC, Financial Times, Mashable. Anton Cherepanov has also managed to visit the conference and gather the information about the most interesting startups which were presented.
Startup Battlefield
Startup Battlefield brings the world’s top early stage startups together on one stage to compete for the coveted Disrupt Cup, a $50,000 prize, and the attention of media and investors. The judges include TechCrunch editors as well as top VCs and entrepreneurs, and past winners include names like Dropbox, Mint, Yammer and many more.
This year Lia Diagnostics project became the winner of Startup Battlefield at Disrupt Berlin 2017. The Lia Diagnostics presented pregnancy test which will be the first-ever flushable test to hit the market, offering a more sustainable, disposable, convenient and private way for women to find out if they’re pregnant or not. Unlike traditional tests, Lia’s tests are made from a special paper that will disperse in water and biodegrade.
Startup Alley
We have chosen three most interesting and promising projects out of all that were presented.
Ari-Farm
Ari-Farm project is aimed at building an efficient, tech-powered livestock market for Africa. The problem is that livestock farmers in East Africa live in poverty because they cannot find buyers for their animals during dry seasons. Ari-Farm offers a solution by using capital from their global investors, infrastructure and technology and building an all year round market for livestock.
Ari-Farm aims to:
- Provide sustainable life for farmers
- Create jobs
- Contribute to the local economy
Zeroquode
Zeroquode is a no-code template creator for founders, who can launch their MVP in 2–3 weeks at a fraction of cost; designers, who can bring their pixel perfect, responsive designs to life; and developers, who can achieve the same results as with coding but much faster and use code only when needed. All you need is just to buy a Bubble template, modify anything without code, and then launch the ready product.
Volocopter
Volocopter is the first manned, fully electric and safe vtol in the world. The creators of the project want to make humanity’s dreams come true and help modern cities resolve the increasing mobility issues. On 25 September of 2017, Volocopter has already been tested and flew the historic flight of 8 Minutes completely autonomously and reached a maximum height of 60 Meters.
