An (extra)ordinary sunny day in Kyiv
I take my camera phone and go on a long stroll through the city
This winter hasn’t spoiled us with many sunny days so far. A grey and dark this one is, inside our minds and on our streets. At least, we have had almost no power outages this time.
One colour palette can’t last forever. Grey will be blue one day. Today is that day. The sun broke free of cloudy chains and is shining through – a bleak yellow glowing dot on a blue canvas of the sky. What a gift of nature!
My current life-work situation comes with a privilege. I’m, in a way, unburdened by urgent commitments and hence I can spend a whole working day just walking around and taking pictures of my lovely Kyiv. It sounds so basic and mundane, but isn’t it quite special? I know many people can barely scrape any free time from their busy selves and have no space for such simple pleasures.
And, so, I can indulge myself in the simple pleasure of walking and seeing how life unfolds before my eyes.
Before I go out for a stroll, I have a medium cup of filtered coffee at a coffee shop Bagman. They sell it as a “small” cup, but in my universe of sizes, that size is too big to be called small. I feel its non-smallness in the amount of caffeine circulating in my body. And that caffeine rushes…
