Thank you for stopping by the Eagles’ Wings Foundation (EWF) booth this year at the 2017 Governor’s Hurricane Conference! EWF has participated in the annual Governor’s Hurricane Conferences for 15 consecutive years and is pleased to attend an event in our hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Eagles’ Wings Foundation Search & Rescue Operations in Nassau, Bahamas during the Response to Hurricane Matthew in 2017

Events like the Governor’s Hurricane Conference are an opportunity for EWF to recruit new first responder volunteers as well as increasing our engagement with the emergency management community. We were pleased to see all of our old friends and glad to make news friends, as well. To enroll as a volunteer with the Eagles’ Wings Foundation, please visit www.ewfrelief.org and click on the Register tab for more information.

Local news Channel 25 (WPBF) interviewed the Eagles’ Wings Foundation on the floor of the Governor’s Hurricane Conference Exhibit Hall. WPBF was interested in what new opportunities exist for EWF volunteers, as well as a summary of EWF’s most recent deployment to the Bahamas in response to Hurricane Matthew.

The Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) tasked the Eagles’ Wings Foundation (EWF) to deploy to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) in Nassau and provide Incident Management Team support two days prior to the impact of Hurricane Matthew. Based on request from the Bahamas NEMA, the following objectives were assigned to the EWF tasking in response to Hurricane Matthew.

  • Objective 1: Provide on-scene Incident Management Team support for the Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency during the response to Hurricane Matthew.
  • Objective 2: Augment information management processes to improve the quality of decision-support information during emergency operations.
  • Objective 3: Provide advocacy consulting and liaison support for international assistance during emergency operations.
