PTF Leader Receives Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition
February 10th, 2017
The leader of the Pathfinders Task Force (PTF), Scott Lewis, has been awarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for the recent deployment to the Bahamas in response to Hurricane Matthew. Scott led a team of eight PTF first responders that was tasked in pre-strike to work under the Bahamas National Emergency Management (NEMA) and to help coordinate emergency operations in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
Scott was officially designated as the Operations Section Chief for NEMA’s initial response phase and assisted the Bahamas with the coordination of search & rescue, critical infrastructure assessments, and other emergency operations on multiple, impacted islands. In that position, he also helped coordinate operations with the British Defense Attaché as well as U.S. Coast Guard personnel stationed in Nassau. Additionally, Scott assisted NEMA with the coordination of donated emergency relief supplies and ensured that goods were delivered to the communities most in need.
This is the second time that Scott has been awarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, the first time being after the 2010 deployment to Port au Prince after the devastating earthquake struck Haiti. The Pathfinders Task Force is committed to providing short-term emergency assistance to local government agencies that have been impacted by disasters, and will continue this mission into 2017.
