The Pathfinders Task Force (PTF) is monitoring the strength and trajectory of Hurricane Matthew as it moves through the caribbean, currently classified as a Category 4 storm. The U.S. National Hurricane Center has reported that Hurricane Matthew reached sustained winds of 160mph yesterday, making it the first Category 5 Hurricane since Hurricane Felix in 2007. There is currently a Hurricane Watch issued for Jamaica and parts of southern Haiti and PTF has been in contact with the Director of the Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency to facilitate cooperation in the event of a deployment tasking.

The Pathfinders Task Force is has assisted the Bahamas in emergency response to hurricane impact since 1999 and is standing by to assist our partners in the Caribbean once more. PTF is currently conducting an availability survey of credentialed first responders interested in deploying in response to Hurricane Matthew.
