New Delhi, Oct 14: JAB (Joint Admission Board), the governing body of the coveted ‘JEE Advanced’ has decided to give a second chance next year to those candidates who could not appear in JEE Advanced 2020 exam. The announcement was made on October 14, 2020 during an emergency meeting conducted by JAB’s senior officials. According to the unanimous decision, the registered candidates who were not able to appear for JEE Advanced 2020 will be allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2021.

The official statement from JAB quoted -

To address the concerns of the affected candidates, while avoiding prejudice to other candidates, it has been decided to allow all the candidates, who had successfully registered to appear in JEE Advanced 2020 but were absent in the exam, to appear in JEE Advanced 2021, as a one-time measure”. The exam authority has also made a “fair decision” in favour of such candidates. The registered candidates who missed out on JEE Advanced 2020 will be allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2021 without having to appear for the JEE Main 2021.”

Students and exam experts had time and time again demanded for the increase in the number of JEE Advanced attempts but JAB always stuck to their decision (until now).

JAB conducted the JEE Advanced 2020 on 27th September 2020, the result of which was announced on 5th October 2020. Although the governing body of the exam “left no stone unturned” in assuring safety measures in such unprecedented times of Covid 19, the pandemic certainly dented the hopes of the aspirants, who wanted but couldn’t appear for the exam. Out of the total 2.5 lakh registered candidates, only 1.5 lakh candidates could appear for JEE Advanced 2020.
