We’ve Lost a Planet

I express the episode of disgust before the face of a despicable and shameless world. Where humans dominate, the shrapnels of disaster and disarray are sure to settle.

Several millennia crowned the earth with sure, undeniable blisses. The air was never more crispier and fresher, landfills were a figment of the imagination and steely swords were needless for bloodshed.

Tranquility was drilled into our senses so we never anticipated the outburst of calamity or the eruption of havoc. We exalted peace as the monument of global pride and signed a pact with the spirits of serenity.

The walls of division were crumbled and we engineered bridges to foster a sense of community and connection. But now the age of industrialization and advancement compels men to exploit the earth to their detriment.

Tons of undegradable waste make their way to the sea destabilizing aquatic ecosystems and we don’t even bat an eyelid. Climate change is very much present with perennial, monumental and intergenerational consequences — yet we smile.

It is pride when we harbour racial ideations — dabbling in mere triflingness. The name of a holy God is extolled by our lips in solemn assemblies yet we’re quick to set a distinction between black and white and between “superiority” and baseness.

Men are gregarious and unreserved but only with their spec and colour and the echelons of society are markedly stratified by race. How did we plummet further down the dignity of lowly, brute beasts?

There are tears, many sore tears to weep for degenerate humans. We wallow in defeat but think we’re emperors at pinnacles of respectability. We scribble grimy, pathetical dust with our finger but imagine we’re stately aristocrats.

The failure to devise well-pondered plans to manage the excellence of our inventions is the reason we grapple with knotty, king-sized challenges. Therefore the earth is a temperamental monster to a cluster of selfish, thoughtless stewards.

Our eyes watch the globe take a nosedive as adverse weather conditions, biodiversity loss, bloodcurdling murders, civil unrest, relentless protests and countless ills plague the habitation we call home so we must admit we’ve lost a planet.
