Are you an Exhibitionist?
When wheelchair-bound William plucks up the courage to talk to his carer about what he hears her doing next door, the world changes for both of them.
“Abigail?”
The hum suddenly stops followed by a suppressed sigh. I listen to you move around. You always drop everything when I call, and not just because it is a part of your job description.
“Yes, William.” There is a pink tinge in your cheeks, as you appear in the doorway, trying to hide your unsteady breathing.
“I have a question for you.” I turn my wheelchair to face you. “You may say no. You even should, if it’s not your cup of tea. You are an amazing carer and I don’t want to lose you. But …” I take a moment to steady myself and select my words.
“We’ve known each other long enough. So, be frank. Did I do something wrong?” Your crystal-blue eyes shine with the remnants of what you were just doing.
“Not at all. The walls are thin. It makes privacy hard, whilst it also ensures you can hear me if I need help.”
You flush, tucking dishevelled dark hair behind your ear. “I …”
I quickly shake my head. “You already do so much for me. I don’t mean to take your private moments away…
