Beware the wolf in sheep’s clothing

That’s what we’re told
The lie we’ve been sold
The world will deceive us
Never receive us, as we are

We must change to fit in, to blend in
Forgo who we are “called to be”
Reflect what they want to see

A curse passed down
Father to son
Mother to daughter
Began with one small fruit

A fruit that spurned over 2,000 years of pain and misery
Shame and grief
That molded us to be
The world they want us to see

Selfish, cruel, a liar, a thief, a murderer
We’re condemned to be our father, the prince of lies
Whose lies and greed earned him a kingdom of pain & torment
A kingdom that burns to the very heart and soul of who we are

Our soul

We’re told is the most precious thing, not to be taken lightly
Not to be given away in a brief fleeting moment of passion
Not to be tied to another before declaring an official commitment
