Did God Make A Mistake By Creating Us?

We often hear Christians say that humans are imperfect and sinful. Jesus came to Earth to save us from our sins, so that if we believe in Him, we can join Him in Heaven in the afterlife.

It all started with the first two humans on Earth, Adam and Eve. They were told by God himself not to eat from the Forbidden Tree, however, they still did. Satan in the form of a serpent made them take a bite of the tree’s fruit and that’s how everything started. That’s how we became sinful.

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

However, the thing is that this God we are talking about is an omni God. He supposedly knows everything ahead of time and is omnipresent as well. So, how could he not know that humans would become sinful eventually? I mean, we are his creations. He literally created us according to the Christian doctrine. So, did he make a mistake? If he did, he is not perfect after all. How does this work then?

God is a “perfect and flawless” being and yet, he seemingly made a mistake. He punishes us if we don’t accept him, he sent his son to save us and even that didn’t really turn out well. His son died by the hands of the humans his father created. A lot of people accept him, however, the majority of the population still doesn’t. So again, how does this work?

Approximately 2.38 billion people practice some form of Christianity globally. This means that about one-third of the world’s total population is Christian. Christianity has several denominations, but the largest is the Catholic Church. There are about 1.2 billion Catholics globally. Other large denominations include Protestantism and the Eastern Orthodox Church.

In my opinion a perfect God is someone who doesn’t make mistakes, because he simply can’t. Everything he creates must be perfect as well, especially if that’s his intention. So if God is perfect, but we aren’t, then his intention must have been to not make us perfect. But if that’s the case, why does he punish us if we disobey? Furthermore, why was there a need for his son to take human form? Was this his plan all along? If so, can we call him omnibenevolent?

One can have many explanations that may fit into the Christian worldview. However, that still doesn’t really explain why God couldn’t have created perfect human beings in the first place — Ones that would obey him and follow him no matter what.

Some of you might say that he didn’t want to create robots. But if he didn’t, then he knew exactly what he was agreeing to. So I ask again: Did God make a mistake by creating us?
